This battle took place in late Summer 1992.
The huge plastic-covered hay wheels were launched for an assault in a vast field in the Lombardy plain, near Milan.
On that rainy day the whiteness of these incongruous objects contrasted starkly with the dark landscape. These stolid invaders, with their bright uniforms, were arranged in long lines, all facing the enemy like in a eighteenth century battle; the avant-garde had already reached the open field, but most were still in the background taking cover in the tall grass. They were exceedingly slow in their advance (void of any perceptible movement) and apparently not intelligent enough to take advantage of their round form to help them move forward.
