Next step from the previous work was an added degree of complexity.
Metal cages were built and laid according to the drawings, creating a 3D web, transforming a two-dimensional painting into a sculpture.
To my knowledge no one before has attempted such an experimental procedure.
Of course sculptors make sketches and scale models, but they never shape their artwork using drawings as its physical foundation.
I chose to use a steel grid to preserve trasparency, so that the coloured paint would always remain visible, the more so because of the contrast with the greyness of the metal superstructure.
