2010 The Pitbull Tree (Milano)

A friend called me with a problem: a basic security problem that required an urgent and unsophisticated solution. The evening before a thief had tried to break into his living room, while he was watching TV with his family.
His apartment was on the first floor of a nice 1920’s building, where, next to the facade, from a nook in the pavement, a stubborn tree had managed to grow over the years.
It had now become an access route for intruders.

So I imagined a solution that would save the tree from being chopped down, while instilling a sense of menace and effectively stopping any would-be climber.
A spiky collar would do the job, creating an insurmountable obstacle and conjuring the intimidating likeness of a fierce guard dog.
