2025 An Underground Carpark (Sesto San Giovanni)

A multilevel underground carpark is for an artist a tremendous and fantastic three-dimensional canvas, a playground, that invites experimentation with dozens of solutions pairing color and light.

There obviously are budget’s constraints and a strict time schedule to comply with. The construction site never stops and the parking spaces being one of the last finishes in the development of a new building, the developer and the general contractor are keen to cost-cutting.
However these are works necessary and functional for the optimal use of the underground space.

To transform a succession of daily travelled, often anonymous and indistinguishable spaces, into intriguing locations, that encourage an aesthetic experience, is a most stimulating challenge, what’s more made dynamic by driving or walking with diverse speeds through environments that pop up when the lighting is activated by presence detectors.
