2017 Pictures (?) at an Exhibition

Somehow I had been invited to a collective exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Baku, something vague enough, about New European Trends or the like.
I admit I was at loss, but didn’t question their choice, not wishing to loose the opportunity to visit a city that had always intrigued me.

I opted for a three minimalist installations.

The first two are gypsum lumps pasted on the corner of the walls, duly numbered and antedated as if they were  a suite conceived years earlier.

The third is a disappearing act: the displayed artwork has unaccountably vanished from sight.
Only a number and the hanging string remain.

2013 Opere d’arte (?) in mostra

Per qualche motivo ero stato invitato a una mostra collettiva al Museum of Modern Art di Baku, qualcosa di abbastanza vago, sulle nuove tendenze europee o simili.
Ammetto che ero piuttosto perplesso, ma non ho messo in discussione la loro scelta, non volendo perdere l’occasione di visitare una città che mi aveva sempre incuriosito.

Ho optato per tre installazioni minimaliste.
Le prime due sono grumi di gesso incollati all’angolo delle pareti, debitamente numerati e retrodatati, come se fossero parte di una serie concepita anni prima.
Nella terza è messa in scena una scomparsa: l’opera d’arte esposta è sparita in modo inspiegabile.
Rimangono solo un numero e la cordicella a cui era appesa.
