2013 Painted shadows

Pretending to be a house painter, I completed in less than 4 hours an unpretentious suite of B&W abstract paintings, using as canvas the doors of the Guardhouses on the corners of the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

I liked the idea that they may be a modern-day equivalent of the chapels of the Way of the Cross (Via Crucis), to be visited sequentially.
The paintings are predominantly white with the black colour simulating a painted shadow.

This work was agreed with the contractor that was to start a full restoration of the guardhouses a few days later.

2014 Ombre dipinte

Fingendo di essere un imbianchino, ho completato in meno di 4 ore una sobria sequenza di pittura astratta in bianco e nero, usando come tela le porte alcuni posti di guardia che si trovano agli angoli di Place de la Concorde a Parigi.

Mi piaceva l’idea che potessero essere un equivalente moderno delle cappelle di una Via Crucis, quindi da visitarsi in sequenza.
I dipinti sono prevalentemente bianchi, con il colore nero che simula un’ombra dipinta.

Avevo concordato questa installazione con l’impresa che da lì a poco avrebbe avviato un approfondito restauro di questi chioschi.
