2019 Traces, Grand Palais (Paris)

I used a concrete floor as a canvas. I was kind of awkward in the beginning and shy to act right in the middle of a construction site, with the workers wondering what the hell I was doing, messing and scratching a perfectly good floor with paint, tape, drills.

I would have happily used a jackhammer, but I was afraid to hurt myself and couldn’t possibly explain to a builder what I meant to achieve.

Nonetheless I was fairly satisfied of the result, at least enough to try again in the future, perhaps with different tools and less hurried circumstances.

2019 Tracce, Grand Palais (Parigi)

Ho usato un pavimento di cemento come tela. All’inizio ero un po’ imbarazzato e timoroso ad intervenire nel bel mezzo di un cantiere non mio, con gli operai che si chiedevano cosa diavolo stessi facendo, sporcando e scorticando un pavimento in buono stato con vernice, nastro adesivo e trapano.

Avrei felicemente usato un martello pneumatico, ma avevo paura di farmi male e non avrei davvero saputo spiegare al capomastro cosa stavo combinando.

Ciononostante, sono rimasto piuttosto soddisfatto del risultato, almeno abbastanza da darmi voglia di riprovare in futuro, forse con strumenti diversi e in circostanze meno frettolose.
